Cobus van Bosch

Cobus van Bosch was born in 1962, and is a Cape Town based artist and arts writer. He works in a variety of media, including casts in metal, compositions of found objects, drawing and painting, as well as the odd performance and other conceptual projects. His art often incorporates aspects of geometry, pattern and topography to highlight a variety of socio political issues of our time, as well as the past. Previous bodies of work include designs of cast iron manhole covers, topographical maps of historic battle fields (constructed from bone fragments), studies of cloud formations (painting) and cityscapes (painting).

Writing
Arts writing for Die Burger newspaper since 1993, and since 1995 full-time visual arts writer for Die Burger and the Media24 group. Assistant arts editor of Die Burger from 2001 to 2004. Since 1998 contributing to various newspapers, national magazines and art periodicals in South Africa. Full time artist and freelance arts writer since 2004.
