Abdullah Abdurahman (1872-1940) was a co-founder in 1902, and president of the African Political Organisation (APO), later to be renamed the African People’s Organisation. He was a member of the Cape Provincial Council and the Cape Town City Council for decades, and spent most of his political life (he was also a medical doctor) fighting for the coloured vote not only in the Cape, but in the rest of South Africa as well.
